Green Baron Aircraft Scale Model Productions is a one-man hobby business owned by Hans Spruijt, dedicated to building plastic aircraft scale models. On this website you will find my aircraft models in various scales. My favourite scale is 1:48, and most of my models are built in that scale.

Who is the Green Baron?

Since participating on the internet some 25 years ago, I have used the nickname “Green Baron,” or simply “GB.” My real name is Hans Spruijt, a born “Tukker” from Twente, a region in the eastern part of the Netherlands.
The name “Green Baron” deserves a little explanation. My family name is Spruijt, which translated into English refers to the Brussels sprout. When fresh, its colour is green — that is one part of the story. The second part comes from the famous WWI pilot Manfred von Richthofen, better known as the “Red Baron.” Aviation has always been the passion of my life. Hence the name: the Green Baron, or GB, a.k.a. Hans Spruijt.
I was born and raised in the city of Enschede, near the German border and, more importantly, close to Twenthe Air Base, the former Royal Netherlands Air Force air base that greatly inspired my interest in aviation.
As a professional aviation technician, I worked as a mechanic, ground engineer, project supervisor, and Technical Field Representative for Martinair, KLM, KLM UK, and KLM Cityhopper.

Since retiring in 2020, I have been fully enjoying the wonderful world of my hobbies: aircraft scale modelling and photography. Nowadays, I live in the beautiful Dutch city of Haarlem, still enjoying all the good things aviation has to offer.

Scale modelling is a way of living

In my early youth, one of my greatest passions was building aircraft models. Inspired by my namesake uncle Hans, a jet pilot, I became fascinated by the jets flying from Twenthe Air Base, not far from where I lived. I was infected with the “aviation virus”!
Nowadays, still happily infected but now retired, and after a lifetime spent in the world of aviation, I dedicate much of my time to building aircraft scale models. Fortunately, it appears that not only I enjoy them — others appreciate my models as well.
I regularly exhibit my scale aircraft models at fairs and exhibitions, where they receive many positive and enthusiastic reactions.

MODELS ON REQUEST

If you cannot find your favorite model on this website and would like to have it built by me, it is possible to commission a custom-built model. This applies to virtually every aircraft type and scale. It is also possible, in consultation, to create a matching diorama.
